Huston Platt will be inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. According to Raceweek Illustrated, Platt was officially selected as a member of the GRHOF class of 2013 this past weekend.  Other selections for this year’s class include Charles Barrett, Hank Blalock, Frank Christian and Freddy Fryar.

The decision to induct Huston Platt was voted on by a panel of 18 members. Platt had been announced as a “Fast 15 semi-finalist” before receiving the honor of being named to the GRHOF class of 2013.

According to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, the GRHOF looks for the following qualities in its members: “Inductees are characterized by their desire to win, mastery of their field and the courage to innovate.”  At the wheel of the Dixie Twister, Huston Platt’s will to compete was unsurpassed.

Looking back on the decorated career of Huston Platt, Raceweek Illustrated notes in part, “Platt’s 66 Chevy II became the fastest and quickest unblown injected Chevy in the country, turning runs in the upper 8 seconds at 160 mph and setting several records.” Being immortalized in the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame class of 2013 further cements the legendary legacy of Huston Platt.

The induction banquet is scheduled for December 13, 2013 at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, Georgia. The ceremony will be held inside the Dawsonville Municipal Complex.
